The FantasyLaw Board
Close to the End on 1/2/12 by Alex Mitchell
Sunday, January 1, 2012 was the final day of the 2011 FantasyLaw Season. We are in the process of compiling statistics for all happenings from the final, official week of the First Session of the 112th Congress. Please check back frequently as we'll be posting final season statistics on each league page. At that time, we'll also post the winners from each league on our homepage and contact league commissioners with information on an awards ceremony and how league winners can receive their commemorative Harry A. Blackmun bobbleheads. Stay tuned, and good luck!
The Final Stretch of the FantasyLaw Season on 12/16/11 by Alex Mitchell
Many thanks to all for continuing to persevere through the 2011 FantasyLaw season. As noted from the draft kit, the season will culminate with the end of the First Session of the 112th Congress, most likely with the last scoring update on Sunday, December 25th. Shortly thereafter, final scores for each league will be posted on individual league pages, with each league winner highlighted. In early 2012, we'll post information and contact each league commissioner with details on the 2011 FantasyLaw Awards Ceremony, where each league champion will be awarded a Justice Harry A. Blackmun bobblehead.
Please remember you can submit add/drop transaction requests using the link under the Rules tab. Good luck with the final few weeks of the season!

Update, Weeks 19-21 on 8/19/11 by the Fantasylaw Board
Updates should now be available for all leagues through Week 21 of the season. As many FantasyLaw staffers are recently graduated law students, the bar exam took an unexpected toll on our ability to keep updates flowing smoothly. (An upheaval magnified by our webmaster, who moved in late July) We apologize for the delay, thank you once again for your patience, and look forward to the continued development of our system as we collect data in the coming final weeks of this season.
Season MVPs and leaders through week 21 of the FantasyLaw season are available here.

over the next two weeks as we finish our final exams. We'll do our best,
but bear with us and we'll be back on a regular schedule soon. Best of
luck from midseason onward!

Each week, FantasyLaw will publish a ranking of representatives' past value during the season.
The past value rankings, called MVPs, are arranged according to a grading metric which attempts to assess
the total value of a representative across all scoring categories. More details on the MVP process are
available on the rules page.

Announcing the Beginning of the 2011 FantasyLaw Season! on 3/15/11 by Alex Mitchell
Thank you to all for registering your teams and leagues with us. We are all looking forward to an exciting
season and are anxious to see which team of Senators and Representatives will prove best in 2011.
First things first: please check out your League page under the Leagues Tab, and check to see that your
ID/password log-in information works. Your league commissioners have received this information and will
forward it to you. Once in your league page, you can see the final rosters for all of the teams in your
league, and if you so choose, may consult the Add/Drop form under the Rules tab to make any changes.
What's next? This week (March 14 through March 20) marks Week One of the 2011 FantasyLaw season. The Members
(on your teams) are currently scoring points across our 13 categories, and competition has now begun.
Early each week, your league page will be updated with current statistics from the previous week
(and accumulating throughout the year from all previous weeks.) Next Monday, March 21 will be the
first chance to see how your team is stacking up to the rest of your league after the first week of action.
What Can I Do Now? Want to get an edge on the competition in your league?
1. Visit FantasyLaw on Facebook. Our FantasyLaw editors post tips and a focused look on each, individual category throughout the week: it's a great place to see which Members are the most recent top scorers (and make an add/drop change before others in your league can snatch them up.) For example: who is the best Member to acquire in order to win PRI (Press Releases Issued)? See Matt Weinstein's Facebook posts on the FantasyLaw facebook page.
2. FantasyLaw posts Lauren's Weekly Top Tens on the News Tab; this features the top ten finishers across every category for the preceding week. It is a quick, easy look for those less devoted competitors unwilling to consult FantasyLaw on Facebook or Brian's MVP Feature.
3. FantasyLaw will also post Brian Rock's MVPs early each week, along with updated statistics for each league: for more information on this feature, see Brian Rock's. MVP Feature under the Rules Tab.
How Does the Season Work? Every week, the team standings in your League will be updated based on performances in the preceding week. Utilize the Add/Drop form to cut an unproductive Member and replace him/her with a higher scoring, productive Member. Visit our Facebook page, consult Lauren's Top Tens, and Brian Rock's MVP feature to get an edge on the competition.

Welcome to the Fantasylaw 2011 Season! on 2/23/11 by Alex Mitchell
Welcome to FantasyLaw! In a few short weeks, we will kick off our 2011
season, and we invite you to form a league with friends and join us this year.
But what exactly is FantasyLaw?
Its a free, web-based game that allows users (Team Owners) to
create a fantasy team of U.S. Senators and Representatives. They then
compete against other Team Owners to determine who has drafted the
best set of lawmakers. A League is comprised of anywhere between 5 and
9 Team Owners. The League gets together, holds a draft to select teams,
and then competes against one another for an entire session of Congress.
Still not sure if you want to play? Take a look at the 2011 Draft Kit and materials under
the Rules tab. It has all of the information and resources necessary to start
a league. Its a great way to learn about those who make up the United
States Congress in a new, informative, and competitive way.
Make sure your League Commissioner sends all league materials via
email to fantasylaweditor@gmail.com by Friday, March 11 at 10:00
p.m., as outlined in the Draft Kit. The 2011 FantasyLaw season will
begin Monday, March 14, 2011, and you will be able to track your teams
performance under the Leagues tab.
